What is a syntax highlighter?
NIST FDS uses plain text input files to define the simulation parameters of a fire scenario. These input files are structured using keywords and namelists that follow a specific syntax.
Syntax highlighting plugins are editor extensions that recognize this FDS input file syntax and automatically apply colors and styles to keywords, parameters, values, and comments.
They greatly improve the usability of input files by making them more human-readable and reducing the likelihood of mistakes when setting up fire simulations.
